I was cycling to work this morning along the canal towpath in Birmingham, minding me own business, when out pops a mouse from the undergrowth and goes to run across my path ahead of me. I often see mice, or even voles like this, but they're not usually then attacked by a great hulking seagull. It picked up the mouse in it's beak, the mouse broke free. The gull went in for another swoop, grabbed it again and the mouse somehow wriggled away again. The seagull gave up, leaving the mouse to rejoin his friend in the bushes and scurry off. I don't usually stop for stuff like this, but it was a pretty ??gladiatorial effort. Almost beats the time I saw a seagull fighting a heron.??
