Does snow reduce seasonal affective disorder?

Someone recently pointed out on Facebook they were feeling more positive due to the snow, and wondered if the increased light levels due to reflection off snow, and general 'whiteness' combatted the effect of seasonal affective disorder?

It's an interesting idea. Do people in snowier countries like Iceland and Finland get SAD? Do penguins get SAD? And actually in countries like Iceland where the amount of daylight in a 'day' greatly varies, does that bring on SAD or are there other things happening too?
