iBook fixed

My iBook died recently, and wasn’t starting properly. The fan whirred like mad, but with a black screen and no proper startup. I googled it and came up with this tutorial . And having just gone through the whole thing, pulling the laptop to pieces, it seems to have worked. For now at least!

As an addition to the tutorial, one of the things I had a problem with was finding a suitable sticky rubber pad, and in the end found something from Maplin. These were perfect and only cost 99p. Given that Apple said they could fit a whole new logic board for ??300, not a bad deal. Also, the hexagonal tiny screw holes were a bit of a problem but I solved that with a screwdriver from a set I had bought from Poundland. So in total, ??1.99.
